Rippetoe training program?

 
 

Hey guys so I’ve been going to the gym for a few months now and the trainer there recently reccomended a couple books by mark rippetoe, starting strength 2nd edition and practical programming. Say I were to get these books and follow his program, would it be beneficial? I like my program now and I feel like im yeilding results. However I would like to try it if it will be better, however im afraid ill waste a huge amount of time and effort and have it not yield results. Anyone have experience with his programs?
