Would you feel bad if you were me?

Okay, so here’s the deal, my friend came down today and we rolled a J in my room, a couple of hours later my step dad comes home and says it smells of weed on the landing. Or his words, "it styyinks!" (He has a tendency to ridiculously exaggerate, he would’ve got a tiny whiff…) He’s a real dick and knows how to thoroughly piss me off, he’s also very stubborn and will always jump at the chance to argue/argue back. So just when we’re about to go out (me and my mate) I get into a little argument with him and he ends up saying "I don’t smoke weed like you" and the word weed pisses me off anyway (I prefer the term "bud") and he knows this so he refers to it as this. Earlier on in the day I overheard him talking to my Mom about how he needs some viagras (Mom can get some off her friend) and as I’m walking away an he says "I don’t smoke weed like you" I say, in front of my friend just as we’re leaving, "Yeah, you just stick to your viagras". At this he instantly shuts up and doesn’t say another word, which is really unusual for him as usually we would end up in a row which he’d be loving. I walked off thinking nothing of it and not even realizing he said nothing back (annoyed at him) and my friend said see you later to him, so as we’re walking down the street my mate says "That was a bit of a low blow" meaning he thought it was uncalled for, he also said how it "Propper shut him
up." and sayin stuff about how evil he thought my comeback was. My step dad really annoys me and acts like a baby brother at times winding me up at every opportunity and crying to my Mom. So, what do you think? Was it really that bad? Would you apologise? Personally I think the bastard deserved worse.
