24/12 light cycle. do indoor plants need to be on a 24 hour clock?

Hey everyone. I had an idea, and since I’m new to cultivating in general it didn’t seem that bizarre to me, anyone who knows jump in and straighten me out. I haven’t dealt much with plants and the intricacies of their life.
The goal with growing indoor is to optimize all conditions, hydroponics for example obviously wouldn’t occur naturally. My thought is what would happen if you were to run lights on a 36 hour clock, say 24 on, 12 off. Would you end up with some strange sort of flowering like running 12/12 from seed? Or maybe the plant would ballance itself, adjusting to the 36 hours instead of 24 and would call that a normal day?? Anyone got a note they could chime in with?
